Next week, we begin a new unit in reading. This unit is all about working together! This theme works beautifully with our culminating work with our Artist in Residence, Marc Ragonese! The children are excited to share with you their work with creating wish flags! They worked TOGETHER to create wish flags for the entire school community. They even brought a wish flag home for each family to create a wish together. These Wish Flags should come back by Monday. They will be sewn together and placed on the Wish House.
All of this work will be featured in our Open House and Integrated Arts night on Thursday, May 17th. Our time together will begin at 5:30 pm with a Classroom Open House. Come on in to see the work your children have been doing. The Integrated Arts team then has an evening planned for you to visit with them to see your children's artwork, have your child sing a song, do a movement activity, and view the Wish House! We hope you can make it.
We are also learning about the Rocky Shore habitat. We are getting prepared for our Field Trip on May 21st. Information about the trip went home on Thursday.
We are working with adding 3 addends and finding missing addends. We are also working with subtracting, and learning that we can use addition facts to solve subtraction facts.
During writing time, your children are working on writings of their choice. Some are working on memoirs, some are writing nonfiction, and some are trying out poetry.
I wanted to thank you for all the kindnesses that came my way this week for Teacher Appreciation Week and throughout the entire school year. My bucket is full!
