It’s Thursday, March 19th! Is it snowing at your house? Although spring is arriving, the weather is wacky! You have a weather assignment today! I want you and your family to check out the Remote Learning tabs on the class website. Be sure to check and complete the “Assignments” and “Attendance” pages. The Enrichment Page on the website is also up and running! Have fun exploring and keep sending pictures (with parent permission I can post them on our website!)! Just a reminder that my office hours are from 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Over the course of today and tomorrow, I'd like an opportunity to have a phone call with each of you and hopefully your child too. I'd like to say hello and to touch base. Please send me an email with possibilities of times that we can connect either today or tomorrow. I'm going to avoid using my office hours for phone calls so as to leave that time open to problem solve any issues that may arise. So let's think about a 10 minute phone call, and think about the following time windows. 11:00-12:30 or 2:00-4:00 either today or tomorrow. If these time frames are not workable for you, email me what could work. We can figure it out! It’s Wednesday and I have your Remote Learning Assignment!

I am working on more options with an Enrichment piece. I will let you know when this is up and running. You can expect to see your new assignments each morning by 9:00 a.m. My office hours will be: 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. daily. I will be checking emails and available to support you with any questions or concerns during these timeframes. When in the Everyday Math platform, for some unknown reason, there are three classes listed. Please use the one that says "Detecting Donuts". This is the accurate one. Missing all of the Detecting Donuts. I have been in contact with Mrs. Macdonald too, and she is thinking of all of you too! Best, Mrs. Veilleux Hey First Grade Families,
Here we go on an outside the classroom learning adventure! Not being present for the children is a huge challenge, but what I can provide is continued access online to our curriculum, daily assignments, and suggested creative learning experiences. These assignments will grow and build over time. This is not the equivalent of a full school day. Time spent on assignments will vary according to family and child needs. Time should be spent in real-life learning: cooking, playing outside, exploring the natural world around you, and being involved in whole-hearted learning and family experiences. I hope you are doing well. These are crazy times and please put the needs of your family first. Education can’t happen unless your emotional being is healthy. As you enter this new “normal”, take this time to figure out what your family routine will look like. Consistency and routines are the key! It’s Monday and I have your first Remote Learning assignment. I want you and your family to check out the Remote Learning tabs on the class website. Be sure to check and complete the “Assignments” and “Attendance” pages. This will help me to test the platform to ensure that we can continue learning together. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you for your support. Love, Mrs. Veilleux Hello Families,
As you likely know, Governor Sununu has cancelled school. I will be working with my school leaders and colleagues to implement an effective learning plan for your children. As I know more information about this plan, I will communicate this to you. We learned how animals work together to protect and/or help each other. We learned that this is called symbiosis!
We learned how animals use different body parts for protecting, communicating, eating, and moving. We wrote informational reports about this. We focused on identifying a main idea and using three key details to back up our main idea. This week, we will continue to learn about animals. This week we will focus on how people look at plants and animals to design things for humans. We will use this information to make a design project of our own! In math we are working on adding two digit numbers, sequencing and writing really BIG numbers, and using doubles facts to help us solve near double math problems. This week is a READING assessment week. Our spelling words will come home in a different format. This week, we are focusing on spelling some of our trickier to spell sight words. Spelling test will be on Friday as usual. Your kids are doing some BIG learning. They are using information they have learned this year to build upon these new skills! They are very proud of their abilities to apply their knowledge and skills! This teacher is REALLY proud of them too! We will preview the Book Fair tomorrow. If your child would like to purchase books they may do so during school time on Thursday morning. Please see the school's latest Bobcat News for more information on the Book Fair...dates, payment options, etc. I also sent home an attachment via email regarding Curriculum Night which is this Thursday. It will be a fun night for families to gather ideas on how to support learning. The PTA sponsored Read A Thon is this Thursday. Any pledge sheets should come in on Thursday. Next week, the PTA is having a Book Fair. We will go down to preview the books on March 9th. If children would like to purchase books, they can do so on March 12th. There are also other times where you can visit the Book Fair as a family. One of these opportunities is our Curriculum Night, which will be on Thursday, March 12th from 6-7 pm. Please see the school's Bobcat News this Thursday for more information. |
