Good Morning First Grade Families!
Your Tuesday assignments have been posted! Just a reminder that taking attendance daily and checking in with me has been so essential to making this remote learning work. At this point, this is our tracking tool to make sure the educational materials provided are being utilized. Please be sure to do this step each day. I am seeing many students now using Xtramath! That's terrific! Reminder too that in the reading Wonders platform, I have set up an virtual Book Box. This is filled with many familiar stories. Enjoy! Also, I have posted all of the New Animal Alert projects that I have currently received. You can find them under Remote Learning Group projects! They are wonderful! If you sent it to me, and I somehow missed posting it, please contact me. Thanks! Happy Monday!
I hope you had a relaxing weekend at home with family. Monday’s assignments are posted. Thank you for the detailed comments in attendance last week. It helps us to understand how remote learning is progressing and plan for future assignments. As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s remote learning. Happy Friday!
Your BIG JOB today is to be an explorer! You can choose to complete a Spring Scavenger Hunt or finish your new animal discovery. If you’re ready for a big adventure, do both! Families, we now know that we will be learning from a distance until May 4th. With that, our administrative leadership has approved some new tech tools. Our team is working on how to best meld these with our current tools. More information will come! I look forward to seeing many of you later today! Get ready to ZOOM in for some NEWSBALL! Good Morning Families!
We are a week and a half into our remote learning! With the success of making it as far as we have, we also want to stay motivated to keep moving forward! Below are some tips and tricks that may help daily routines with your child: Take Frequent Breaks: This is essential, even in school, to take breaks between activities. Let your child plan their day (structured) or give choices for what to do next: If you give your child a list of things that need to be accomplished for the day, have them rearrange the tasks in a manner that they would enjoy! That way, they can take charge of their day and the tasks you need completed will get done! Pacing of your Day: Parents, creating a school day at home can be challenging while trying to keep pace with what we do at school. Please reach out if you would like assistance. Change of Scenery: If the weather allows it, take your at home classroom outside! Reduce the Workload: This can tie into taking frequent breaks. Break down tasks into smaller pieces and tie in more rest or brain breaks in between! You know your child best! Pick and choose from each academic section. You do not need to complete everything in one sitting! Listen to Music: Music can be great for taking dance breaks, but it can also, when instrumental, create a peaceful atmosphere for learning and reading! If you have not yet finished your new animal alert, it is A-OK to work on that instead of exploring Scholastic News. I cannot wait to see your new discoveries! Happy Wednesday!
Today’s assignments have been added to my website. Our favorite characters, Annie and Moby, will teach the math lesson today. We will take a break from Everyday Math and instead focus on sums of ten through games! Remember to submit attendance each day. The feedback that you provide me on your child’s learning is important. Thank you for all of your efforts at home! Enjoy your day! Good Morning!
Last week we read about Wacky Weather. Can you believe how much snow we got after a beautiful weekend? I hope you get outside to play in the snow! Make sure to send pictures of you and your snow creations! Your Tuesday assignment has been posted. Please make XtraMath a part of your daily routine. The XtraMath program provides repetition of math facts, which leads to math fluency. Information on how to access this has been previously sent. Please let me know if you need yours again. Let’s talk about handwriting! Your child has learned that each letter has a special size and special rules. Please see the Remote Enrichment tab for resources that will help you support your child to continue proper handwriting technique. The letter to parents is from our handwriting program. It will show you the basics. The Alphatrangle has arrows to show you where to start each letter. Follow the arrows to form the letter. There are also several files with different types of handwriting paper for you to choose and use. As always, have a wonderful day and I look forward to hearing from you! My office hours are 9:00-10:30 a.m. and 1:00-2:00 p.m. daily. Happy Monday! This week our reading is all about insects. Insects are animals too! This week we have created a fun project, New Animal Alert! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
The spelling words and high frequency words for the week are tricky, so be sure to practice often! As a reminder, your school work should take one to two hours per day. Check out the Specials Connections pages every week. Ms. Kjellander has set up a way for her to let you know what you have completed. Visit her website! Just a reminder that my office hours are from 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Hi Families,
Please click the link below for a message. Happy Friday and full first day of Spring!
I want you and your family to check out the Remote Learning tabs on the class website. Be sure to check and complete the “Assignments” and “Attendance” pages. The Enrichment Page on the website is also up and running! Have fun exploring and keep sending pictures (with parent permission I can post them on our website!)! We’ve all survived our first full week! Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all work through this alternative way of learning. Keep in mind that the work we are sending does not replace six hours of a normal school day. This work should only take up to 1-2 hours each day. Additionally, choosing an activity from the Specials Connection page will help enhance your child’s learning day. Just a reminder that my office hours are from 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. |
