The kids are doing an amazing job with their performance! Be sure to ask them all about it.
Our dress rehearsal will be quite an event, and likely quite lengthy. I'd like to have a little celebration snack on Friday after our morning performance. If you are able to contribute a special snack for this day, please let me know. We could use juice boxes, popcorn (seems circusy), and maybe some special cupcakes or cookies. Please let me know if you could provide a little something. I'd ask that it be delivered first thing in the morning, as I'm not sure exactly what time our snack will be on that day! Thank you! We are so very excited for our work with our Artist in Residency. This will begin on Monday, and it will culminate in our Open House and Performance on Friday. Information about this came home with your child on Friday. I have included the information here as well.

After vacation, we will learn about the life cycle and read several fiction and nonfiction books about egg-laying animals. Families, your children are working very hard. We have some very busy weeks ahead with a high emphasis on academic and behavioral consistency. Your children are working in these last months of school on finely tuning all that they have learned, and using that learning to learn new and often tricky concepts. With more being asked of them at school, I am reducing the homework load. Our spelling homework routine will continue, and please be sure that your child is practicing and reading at home. I encourage you to also use our online Reading and Math platforms daily. However, I will not be sending math or Wednesday reading homework home from this point on. Our duck eggs went in today. Be sure to ask your child about the incubator, how long hatching duck eggs takes, what the temperature needs to be, and their wishes for the eggs.
Tomorrow is our hike to Mill Pond. Please be sure that your child is dressed for a hike. We will be leaving shortly after 8:00 a.m. We will be returning to school by snack time. We will eat snack back at school. We have been working on sorting, categorizing, and classifying. Tomorrow, we will work with a favorite story, and go on a hunt to find and categorize an item! Be sure that your children are dressed for the weather, because we will be heading outside early, and it's pretty chilly in the a.m.
Your children did a great job with last week's spelling pattern. Spelling assessments will come home tomorrow. This week's pattern builds upon last week's. This week they will work with the r controlled patterns of ir, ur, and or. This is very tricky. A few more minutes of home practice will help your child to really own this spelling concept...not just for the test, but for a lifetime. We have had an increase in toys coming to school and becoming a distraction. We have lots of fun things to do here at school and fun things to work and play with. Toys at school run a high risk of being lost or broken on the school playground, and when this happens, children are devastated. Personal toys are best left at home. We also have a very sweet thing happening here at school, but I'd like to see this activity also be reserved for play dates. The children love to give things to each other. This is very sweet and generous, but can become problematic, as other children feel left out. Sometimes too, they just give away an item, and I'm not sure if it has been cleared with a parent. Please encourage your child to save these special gift times for special together time. Your child's classroom birthday celebration time is a great time for your child to create or collect a special item to distribute to all class members. Please see my birthday tab for more information. Your child learned quite a bit about the United States last week. we are focusing on learning the difference between a continent, a country, a state, and a town. This is tricky for them. Our United States booklet went home with lots of facts about our country. This week, we will learn about New Hampshire. Looking forward to a fun week of learning and growing! |
