Our theme for the next few weeks is Changes Over Time. This past week we discussed things that change quickly and things that change over time. We are observing and watching the growth of a giant Amaryllis! It grew an inch in one day.
We learned about shadows and experiemented with moving shadows. We answered the question, Can a statue's shadow move? We found out the answer is YES, and we learned how the sun appears to be moving, but it is really the earth. We will continue this next week by observing the moon. Your child will have an additional homework assignment to observe the moon for four evenings. The tracking sheet will come home on Monday. I encourage you to try to find a spot outside and a common time to observe the moon with your child. If this is not possible, there are many "Moon Calendars" available online. Observing the moon outside and then going online to "check" it on the calendar would really bring home the understanding for your child. Our regular homework routine will resume this week. This will include:
The children are having difficulty remembering to bring in their library books on Wednesday. Please be sure that your child has packed his/her library book for Wednesday. Your children are doing a great job with their goals. We ended our day Friday by discussing how we felt we were doing with our goals. Thank you for your support of your child's learning!
