The Cardboard Challenge was terrific! Please be sure to check out your child's photo in the STEAM journal from this week.
The month of February will be a busy one. Our biography focus will be on Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. Valentine's Day for our class will be celebrated on February 16th. Children may bring in Valentines to deliver to their classmates. Children may wish to include a wrapped candy treat with their Valentines, and this is fine. We will CREATE a special Valentine Carrying Device here at school. I would like to have a special Snack on that day. I'd love donations of the following: bottled waters (12), juice boxes or bags (12), pre-packaged/factory packaged cookies or cakes (3 boxes of 12). To help with Valentines, a list of classmates will be sent home on Tuesday in the folder. This week we will show what we know by completing the reading Unit 5 assessment. We will also be focusing on some KEY high frequency words, and your child will be tested on Thursday on these 8 Sight Words. The list will be on SEESAW on Monday morning. We will be working on picturing what we are reading (visualizing). We will be reading several Jan Brett favorites this week and writing about what we are picturing while we are reading. Your child's writing journal this week will focus on this skill by using poetry. In math, we are working on making numbers with Base Ten blocks and understanding place value. Our science work will look at shadows, and we will answer the question...Does a statue's shadow move? It looks to be a VERY cold week. Please be sure to pack snow gear - boots, hat, mittens, snow-pants daily. Comments are closed.
