I would like to celebrate the First Day of Winter and this amazing class with a Class Snack on December 22nd. All snacks must be prepackaged/factory packaged. We have lots of juice boxes and water left over from our last celebration, so we will only need food items.
If you are able to donate a food item for our celebration, please let me know and what it will be. We do not have any nut allergies within the classroom. I would like to try something different this year, and do a small trinket gift exchange. Think Dollar Store type toy items or party favors that can be bought in a package and one distributed to each child. If each child could bring in a small trinket for each child in the classroom that would be great. Things like, an animal figurine, a finger puppet, a small car, a pencil topper, etc. There are 12 children in our class. Please plan on spending under $5 total. If this is a hardship, please let me know, I can provide extras. Your children have had a terrific week. They are doing an amazing job with their snow gear. Families, if your child would like to leave a slip on pair of shoes here at school, that is fine. They just have to have a grippy hard sole...shoes like Crocs are fine. This may help to lighten the load of the snow gear a tiny bit. We will be publishing our Winter stories this week, so we will not have a journal this week. Your children's writing is growing and is becoming quite descriptive! Next week our spelling becomes a bit more challenging with the addition of difficult to hear end blends. We are working on our handwriting, and I am seeing big growth here too! Children are working on forming their letters from top to bottom, making sure they are on the lines for size 1 and 2 letters or "underground" for size 3 letters. Ask your child what the letter sizes mean. The letter size is also helpful in developing a visual understanding of words, and it can help with spelling. In class we use different sized boxes and the children become word detectives trying to figure out what word matches the box pattern! This is quite challenging, and really gets their brains working! Have a wonderful weekend! Comments are closed.
