Reading fluency is a central focus, and last week we used plays to practice this. Fluency is the ability to read at an appropriate pace, using correct pausing, and reading expressively.
We had a Reader's Theatre week and used different folk tales to practice reading fluently. The children are excited about our Moon Study. This is a special Full Moon. It is called the Super Blood Wolf Moon. We continue to track the moon in class, and the children are able to recognize the different phases. In math, we have started our scrolling project. This challenges the students to sequence numbers past 100. We are focusing on correct sequencing, correct number formation, number identification, and perseverance. Later this week we will put together our scrolls and measure them. During Social Studies we are learning about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Last week we made peace doves and read the book, Happy Birthday, Dr. King with our reading buddies. Many people have asked if our class is in need of anything. Thank you for all the donations that you provide us. We are always in need of sanitizing wipes and soft tissues. In addition, occasionally children forget their spoon, fork, or snack. Our supply of these items is dwindling, so if you would like to donate a box of spoons, a box of forks, and/or a nut free box of crackers or other snack, that would be appreciated. Looking forward to a great week. Comments are closed.
