We learned about Abraham Lincoln this week. The kids will read about him in Scholastic News tomorrow too! We made our own Abraham Lincolns and we learned about his contributions. We also learned where he kept his very important papers! Be sure to ask your child.
The kids are doing well with their long vowel sounds. Distinguishing short vowels from long vowels is tricky, and it is a big focus throughout the remainder of grade 1. We will have our spelling test on Thursday, 2/18. Our Valentine celebration will be on Tuesday, the 16th. I will have a bag for the kids to decorate and to put their Valentines in. They do not need to bring in a special container, we'll do that here. Children may bring Valentines to deliver to their classmates. Including candy is fine, as long as it is factory packaged. On Tuesday, we will have a regular snack and then a second PARTY Snack time. Please pack a regular snack for your child on that day. The party time and second snack will be in the afternoon. We have a few treats coming in, and some juice boxes. If someone could donate small water bottles, those would be great! The kids continue to learn and grow. They are doing their very best to continue to stay socially distant. They have done a good job with their masks too. Please remind your child how important it is to have their mask cover their nose. They are great when reminded, but I'd like to have to remind on this a bit less. Masks with a pinchable metal piece are GREAT! The work on SEESAW continues to show quality and care. The kids are making great efforts to complete these lessons and activities. The work on IXL has been terrific as well. Thank you for your continued support of your child's learning on these remote days! Comments are closed.
