This week we focused on writing about our reading. Children are beginning to write descriptively. We will continue this week by writing poetry in class. Our SEESAW journaling time will be to write and respond to books we read at home. Please be sure to have your child complete their Monday - Wednesday journal. Writing daily is essential. Your children's writing skills are developing. Your children are writing sentences and are beginning to apply their spelling and punctuation knowledge within their own bodies of writing. It is one thing to write one sentence or to fix a sentence in isolation, but to write multiple sentences and to apply punctuation is quite a skill to develop. Your children are developing! This week we will begin a new unit called "Changes Over Time". This unit will incorporate reading, science, social studies, and math! We will learn about Abraham Lincoln. We will learn about the penny and do activities around the penny. We will connect our knowledge of a penny and a dime to our work with place value. The 100th Day of School will be on Thursday. We will do some fun counting and exercise activities around the number 100! We will celebrate Valentine's Day on February 16th. A list of students went home on Thursday. If you are able to have your child bring in a pre-packaged/factory packaged treat, please see below. Information about Valentine's Day is also below. Comments are closed.
