This week we continue to focus on our long vowel i pattern. We will continue to read plays about planting and plants. This week's read is about a giant plant called a Yuca. It is so big that the whole family and even the animals join in to help pull it out of the ground!
During math time, we are working on our number scrolls. Children are recognizing that there is a repeating pattern to the numbers and the hundreds chart. Typically, a first grader will initially write numbers in the 100s like this...for 101, they may write 1001. For 111 they may write 10011. They are now using what they know about place value to write these numbers with accuracy! Our SEESAW focus this week will be on the long vowel i pattern, mixed practice in previously taught math and literacy skills, and on writing with description. Please encourage your child to write three or more descriptive and detailed sentences for their journal. Pictures are expected to be detailed too! On Thursday, we will begin a new in-class writing project. We will be writing our thoughts about SPRING. It is my hope that we will be able to create a "STORY WALK" with these writings. More details will follow! Tuesday is a no school day for students. It is a teacher workshop day. Comments are closed.
